As a smoker (guilty!), my teeth are not in tip-top shape and I can’t exactly fork over thousands for professional teeth whitening. Instead, I’ve turned to COCOPULL for a whiter and healthier smile. While I was apprehensive at first, coconut oil pulling has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for nearly 3,000 years so there has to be something worthwhile to it, right?
It works by pulling the toxins and bacteria out of the gums, specifically Streptococcus mutans. This bacteria is a major cause of plaque, gingivitis, and gum disease. The mouth is a direct gateway to the rest of the body, and research has shown the link between gum inflammation and other body conditions such as heart disease and a weakened immune system.
Brighter, Whiter Teeth – Buh-bye coffee and tea stains on teeth without the harmful chemicals that bleach the teeth and irritate the gums.
Gets Rid of Bad Breath – Coconut oil pulling is claimed to be as effective as mouthwash when it comes to killing germs that cause bad breath.
Removes Toxins – The oil pulling speeds up the process for removing toxins by detoxifying the body through the mouth.
Refreshed, Softer Skin – Skin issues often result of toxins found in the body and oil pulling helps removes much of the causes of these issues.
It took me a full 2 weeks to get use to the feeling of having a full mouth of oil (100% Organic, Virgin Coconut Oil + 100% Organic Peppermint Oil), which eventually turns into a liquid and then thickens again. Starting with 5 minutes and gradually working up to 20 minutes, I quickly noticed my teeth were lighting and plaque build-up was dissolving. But, as easy as it sounds, 20 minutes of swishing is tiring and your jaw starts to feel achy and not to mention the occasional gag reflex.
Don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t taste bad but when you are telling your body not to swallow for 20 minutes, sometimes it doesn’t exactly listen. Overall, I’ve seen an improvement in my gum health and will continue to use COCOPULL, but it takes patience and vigilance to be dedicated to this product.
