Instagram Tackles Fashion’s Lack of Diversity
I’m one of the fortunate few who were born with “classic beauty,” but not every human fits into this compartmentalizing box. The hot-button issue of diversity’s place in fashion is ongoing and continuously. Instagram is now giving diversity a voice with #RunwayForAll, a week-long hashtag initiative showcasing diverse models who are “redefining industry standards.”
Gisele Bündchen Likes Big… Trees
Famous humans and philanthropy go hand in hand, so it’s no surprise that Gisele is getting paid to sit in front of big trees. Let me clarify: Gisele Bündchen took to Instagram to announce that she is joining the second season of National Geographic’s Years of Living Dangerously, a docuseries about the destruction of the Amazon rainforest. Gold star for Gisele!
Snapchat and L’Oréal Make Me Even Prettier
Lucky for moi, I have not one but two good sides. But on days when my maid is off her game, even I need a little boost. Thankfully, Snapchat and L’Oréal will paint my face even when my maids are feeling lazy. This week, L’Oréal Paris ran the first Snapchat lens ad for a beauty brand. L’Oréal’s lens applied eyeliner, mascara, foundation, blush, and a lip color to selfies. No tape or high heels required to master contouring or cat eyes!
Alexa Chung Wore UGGs to Gucci Cruise
My loathing for UGGs runs deep and my hatred for wearing them in public even deeper. You can imagine my surprise when Alexa Chung popped up on mynewsfeed wearing a glittering Gucci number paired with a pair of the unmentionable footwear. Hasn’t she seen Gucci’s fur-lined loafers? All the comfort, none of the hideousness. Oh, l’horreur!
Bella Hadid Is Taking Over
From Bella Hadid’s Givenchy news to her face being plastered across Dior’s social media, you can’t get away from her. Not that you’d want to. After she was named Dior’s Beauty Ambassador, I was left wondering, “Who is her publicist and how do I get her phone number?” How is it that one model could be the current obsession of two fashion houses, Dior and Givenchy, and I am the obsession of only one? I mean, I love my Chanel family, but life is so unfair!
